Hmmm, good question. I think the answere to that is, they don't.
Take DFS for example, always half price! Why don't they just lower the price and start being honest?
Be careful with sales though as inferior items tend to be pulled from the backroom and sold as latest stock!

Missed them I expect! the sales started in early July and by August the autumn clothes were in store, I have seen the ads on TV for the Next sale, thats usually one of the last, waiting yntil the competition is reduced for maximum impact

Think they start at the beginning of or during the summer. You may still catch them but chances are, all the good stuff is gone!

Umm..for the past few years, sales never end....the summer sales become autumn sales..then its winter sales.....never ending!!!
