White pride, at face value, is just what it sounds like: being proud about being white. The reasons that the idea is so controversial (and usually considered racist) are the following:

1. Most, if not all, groups that identify as having "white pride" are actually white supremacist groups (who believe that being white is better than all other races, and therefore whites should have more power). In other words, racists.

2. The idea of having a pride movement usually comes from a history of being shamed (like "black pride", from slavery and racism, or "gay pride", from a long history of persecution). Many black people identify as having "black pride" as a way of taking back their identities and saying, "Instead of being ashamed of this, I'm going to be proud of it."

However, because white people have always made up the most powerful group in societies all over the world, most people would agree that they have never been made to feel that being white is a shameful thing. At the most, they may feel guilty for the crimes of white ancestors (or other white people) against blacks and other minority groups, but that's because of actions, not skin colour.

There's a big difference between a "white pride" movement based on skin colour and simply being proud of your heritage, for example, your English or Irish roots.

I hope this helps a little!

The term white pride is used primarily in the United States to denote a celebration of the heritage of persons of "White-European" racial identity - though generally to the exclusion of homosexuals and Jews, as well as certain other individuals and groups.

The term is highly controversial, as many believe it implies racism; indeed, it was coined and is used as a slogan by a number of white supremacist organizations.

I think it is like Gay Pride..you are proud of who you are. Sometimes the white pride is mis-used by people. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage, preferences, or life in general. It can be used to say that one group is better than others and that is sad that it is used that way.
