Oh your question sounds so sad, we could not resist! Sure we are really looking forward to the time when "Yamster" remembers that he offered us a JOB, not a chance to be "volunteer rats" (there's enough of them here already!)...In the meantime, we are looking forward to pay day, the houses where we stay always forget and leave the oreos or some other good nibbles around around on pay day! Today I actually had to grab food away from a kid's plate, just so my family could eat! Hey I'm a rat, what do you expect?
Just think, the next time someone says you have to pay for an expensive dress, you can tell them that you would be thrilled just to be invited (always good nibbles at weddings!) Oh to think of it! I have always thought that anyone who wants a matron of honor, bridesmaid, etc. or a member of the wedding party to dress a certain way, that they should also pay for those dresses. If you just need a formal dress to wear, look for some of the shops that rent formal wear, often now they not only have the tuxedo for men, but also formal gowns! Also consignment shops can be a great place to pick up barely ever used formal wear at a major discount!
If it's got to cost you a lot of money, and you know you are going to resent it, or suffer because of it, maybe you need to learn to say "NO". Or try this, "I would love to join you, but I cannot afford the buy the dress that you are requiring." There is no shame in telling it like it is! Now unless you MUST keep this expen$ive dress after the ceremony, (by the way, I do not recommend trying to eat it). Then take it to a consignment shop and tell the owner of the shop you want/need to try to recoup some of the money you spent on it.
The Ratings Rats are not just here to be rats (not until we see some money, Yamster!)
We are here to care about you, and to give you our ideas too. Sometimes a gently used dress can be lovely after a trip through the dry cleaners to freshen it up for a big date/event. Formal wear and most clothes for that matter are OVER-priced! I guess we do not have to tell you that though, do we?
If you get into a tight spot for food, or something, try some community based organizations. Once again, no shame in admitting that you are in need or running short or need some help. I would not go in and tell them you are broke because you just bought an expensive clothing, but it's done now, so just say that you over extended your own budget...Don't sit there hungry with a fancy dress...but try to remember this, because this is one of those hard lessons that we sometimes learn from when we realize that we are broke!
Do not suffer if you are in need of help with medications or such either, because there are usually community or other organizations that can give you a helping hand until your payday.
Good luck, and have some fun at the wedding, you sure know that you paid for it!

Hi,I have been there and have done that.I feel that the bride should pay for the dress when your part of a wedding party.1 yeat,I was in3 weddings and the bride only paid for my dress and alterations. We eloped with my parents, thanwe wnt on an expensive honeymoon with all the money that we got from wedding gifts and my girlfriend threw a bridal shower for me and there was a money tree totaling over$800.00..which was sweet...So....I understand where you are coming from. Not only did you have to pay for the dress, also,a shoer gift or 2 or3, and a wedding gift, it gets ridiculous...(if..you are invited to all the wedding showers spend alot on 1 gift and let the bride know it's for all 3 of her showers, she will understand....I am sorry, will you be eating Mac and cheese,or PB&J til your next paycheck..Hey Good-luck
It sucks being broke..........i hope that I helped you "if" you have future weddings that you ar apart of.................. It is a honor but it can be soooo expensive...

If you mean broke as in no money at all, then yes, I am broke. I don't even have two nickels to rub together at this point in time. No other coins or bills (paper money) either.
