When I was much too young to do anything about it,
I was locked in a room with 30 other kids
and told I would stay there until I learned what is now
commonly dismissed as "that Thomas Jefferson, John Adams crap,"
which now I'm told I must forget
or face being locked in a much smaller room,
by myself,
until I do . . .

Sure I get what you are saying.... that we have to uphold our constitution. (that is what we were taught). But now, the current administration is destroying it.. and now we are suppose to accept the loss of our civil rights in the name of the war on terrorism without question ignoring the ideas of those forefathers we were taught to believe in.

The Founding Fathers believed in - drum roll, please -

...Personal Responsibility...

Most people today don't really believe in that (even Some of the ones that Say They Do), and they get offended if anyone reminds them of "...that Thomas Jefferson, John Adams crap..."

The problem is they are about to find out - the hard way - about some Benjamin Franklin "crap:"

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a
little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
- Benjamin Franklin,
Pennsylvania Assembly: Reply to the Governor,
November 11, 1755.

Who is WE!

I firmly believe in the country our founding fathers built and the guidelines they set forth. If someone tried to do that to me even when I was small I would defiantly have words with them.

Many of our politicians of today have turned their back on the policies of yesteryear in favor of Pac’s, re-election and power.
The politicians of yesteryear were in office for the betterment of our country, not the lining of their pockets.

You read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights...see what you think then.

Someone else can correct me and will do with glee but didn't Thomas Jefferson write the Constitution with the assistance of Benjamin Franklin. I cannot remember, but was it Adams that wouldn’t sign the Constitution until the Bill of rights was drafted?

It is no longer acceptable to follow the truths and examples set forth by these men. "A government of the people, by the people, and for the people is no longer the case, It now reads Corporation instead of people. The principles that this country was founded on are no longer convienent and so they are summarily dismissed as outdated and biased. I love this country but it is being destroyed from the inside out.

Perhaps you are confusing American History with American Mythology. I Believe the latter is what they teach in school They have done this for a long long time.
