Yes you can swim when you have your period. You must use a tampon though.A
comfortable brand is Playtex Gentle Glide.
It is better than most other tampons because it expands on all sides to prevent leaks well. And
a flow is about how much fluid you loose during your period.Sometimes you can have
a light flow that only calls for a panty liner.Or you can have a heavy flow.Heavy flows are
very aggravating and you may experience leaks
if you don't change pads or tampons frequently.
Hope this is the answer you were looking for.

It's perfectly fine to swim while you have your period. Simply wear a tampon (as a pad won't work; the water will just wash the blood out and into the water) and you'll be just fine.
Teenwire, a website made by Planned Parenthood, gives this advice:
"Swimming will not affect menstrual flow. It is perfectly safe and healthy for a girl to go swimming when she has her period.
Most girls who go swimming when they have their periods usually use tampons or menstrual cups instead of pads to prevent menstrual flow from leaking out. The walls of a vagina hold a tampon in place, so it should stay put while swimming, exercising, or playing sports. It's a good idea to change a tampon every four to six hours to prevent leakage. Menstrual cups "catch" menstrual flow before it leaves the vagina. The cup is shaped like a diaphragm, and it rests between the pubic bone and the cervix at the opening of the uterus."

Have a nice swim!

When your body hits the water, your flow stops kind of automatically...same in the shower or bathtub.
I always like to wear a tampon if it's heavy flow time...just in case. Plus, it makes it easier when I transition back onto land. But I think a person would have time to change and not have to worry too much about leakage starting back up again.
I wouldn't wear a pad because those will come off when they get wet, and I hate seeing them floating in the water. It's gross.
So, sure, it's fine. I do it all the time.

Well, generally if you use a tampon, there is nothing to worry about. You can swim or do any activities you normally would do. Just don't keep the tampon in your body for over 8 hours. (but no one is going to SWIM for 8 hours anyway right?)

well you can swim, it obviously won't do any harm to you and usually the 'flow' stops while you are in the water, so if u have a tamp or something it should be alright. if its that bad maybe you'll feel more like stayin out of the water. the water doesnt make that much difference, so its not worse than being out in dry.

You can. I was so freaked out about this when I started swimming... Anyway, all you have to do is wear a tampon, and depending on the amount of time you are in the pool, go and replace it.
I was on my school's swimming team, and we all did that.

Sure you can, just grab a tampon and plug the flow before you make the plunge. Then you're good to go...

Of course, just be sure to use a tampon and tuck the string in your suit.
