Remember that show Eureka's Castle, the giant that wound up the castle at the beginning, I always thought he was under my bed. Still to this day, it's creeps me out. He could be anywhere ya know.

I was afraid possums would come get me and snatch me out the window and take me back into the woods, where I would be devoured by a buck-toothed anteater drinking stale goat milk thru a little crooked straw, as he wore a plaid polyester leisure suit, while he read The Odysseus in American braille.
(Fortunately, this has yet to happen, but just think of the book I could write)

My worst nightmare was about a black bird that talked and was the size of a three year old. In my dreams it took my bedroom from me and tormented me every chance it got and then I found a huge room full of these hateful creatures and tried killing them. It was the only dream that would wake me up terrified and sweating. My last dream of this horrible creature it was dead and in a glass in a museum and came back to life when I stood in front of it to see that it actually was dead. Man I'm not going to be able to go back to sleep tonight. LOL

I was scared of the earth opening up and swallowing me alive.
I was scared of an invisible evil which would hunt me throughout the house. I never saw it, but I would turn myself into a fly and hide inside the lamp shade.
I was scared of the wooden post at the top of the stair's bannister, which had a large oval shape which looked like an alien eye, a cyclops of varnished oak.
I was scared of the voices which would haunt me during my waking hours, in the night. We lived over a former funeral parlor, in an old Victorian home.
I was scared of the gang of bullies who would chase me and dog pile over me, beat me every year on the playground of the Catholic school.

I was afraid of the word 'earthquake' since the age of 1. I remember quite clear.
One time at about that age, I had this vivid experience, when I saw me being buried in a type of box, I looked and saw from the hole, flush with the mouth of the hole. I saw the wind blowing dirt on me. I saw insects trying to and getting in the hole with me while dirt was being thrown on my hole.
All this, since the age of 1. This experience went away as I grew older but then other fears started showing up.
As I started getting older, I was panicked at police, knives, and guns. This went on till I graduated from HS and joined the armed forces. Then I realised that I wasn't afraid any longer.

The Closet Monster. I couldn't stand to be in a room with an open or cracked closet door. It didn't matter if it was day or night. If the door was cracked, I just knew he was watching me and wating for me to go to sleep so he could eat my skin off me. To this day I keep all the doors closed. Even the bathroom door when no one's in there. Cracked doors freak me out. Don't laugh. Okay, you can laugh, I'm laughing right now.

I was afraid mostly of my older sister who would do terrible things to me. Such as when I was sleeping she would crawl into my room and reach up onto my bed and grab me. To this day I will not sleep with my arms out of the covers. I keep the cover pulled up all the way to my neck. She also took my cup of water out of the frig once and replaced it with the juice out of the jar of jalapenos. You guessed it- it burned my throat and I almost choked to death. I think she is the only thing I ever feared.

This is weird, I know, but true. When I was around 5 to 7 I had nightmares of my feather quilt (on my bed) wrapping around me while I slept and smothering me. These were horrible nightmares that terrrified me for a couple of years. To this day, I feel creeped out when I touch really fluffy quilts.

Being left alone. I was always very clingy as a child, fearful that if I didn't keep hold of mum's hand she'd lose me and I'd be gone forever. And it's funny now because I now live hours from my mum and dad's home!
