Hun, you shouldn't ever be ashamed or uncomfortable with your skin colour.

People who make you feel bad for being black are just insecure and ignorant- if they can't see that nationality or the colour of a person's skin amounts to absolute nil in the scheme of things then they (and their opinions) really aren't worth it.

I can understand where you're coming from... I recently went for a trip to a major city, which is largely multicultural, but primarily populated by asian people, meaning that the majority of shops and services were run by asians.

While many of the asian people were absolutely lovely, there were quite a few instances when I went into certain shops or walked past certain groups of people, that I could feel their eyes burning right through. Some of the shopkeepers were VERY rude and treated me and my partner differently to the other people who were in the shop at that same time (those of asian descent)... it made me feel uncomfortable being white- my partner also felt the same awkwardness and we're not usually the type of people to pick-up on that sort of thing, so there was definitely some tension there.

It's flat-out wrong to be horrible to a person for their skin colour, no matter what your background- unfortunately, you will find that there are people out there who will disrespect you for having darker skin, but I can guarantee you that for every 1 of those negative, people there at least 5 other people who think you're absolutely beautiful and a great person.

Don't let that insecure, idiotic minority bring you down- you're every bit a wonderful person and that doesn't change, whether your skin was pink, purple, yellow, black, white, orange or green.

That question is very heart breaking to hear. In a way I understand what its like being uncomfortable in you own skin, Although, I am Caucasian and I am not quite sure where you pain stems from. I am sure it is not the same uncomfortable pain I feel from a similar problem. I do know there is nothing much worse than feeling unsure of yourself. This might sound cliche, but time will work it self out. And if there is any comfort in this, you are definitely not alone in this type of feeling. I don't know if you believe in God, but if you do keep praying about and the answers will come to you.

I am white, you are black and we're all red inside.

They way I look at it, we all want to be loved, cute girls, old men, middle aged women, geeky boys...all of us. There are people on this planet that hate us individually for any number of reasons...because we are from a certain place, or we go to a certain worship, or we dress some way, or speak differently and of course, the old standby, skin color.

Yeah, people hate for what we are, but that is their problem, not ours. I used to go to college in a predominantly black area and many times was the only white on the bus or train. I got the stares and evil glances from some like "what are you doing there?" . It works both ways. I decided to treat people with respect, no matter how they treated me. I would give an older lady a seat and such. Over the weeks and months, I made many acquaintences. And there were clearly many that would just be as happy if I dropped dead. Oh Well, it's uncomfortable being white sometimes.

You sound like a good and sensitive person. Be excellent and be proud of who you are.

never let someone else make you feel bad or uncomfortable. you will find that throughout your life, some people are going to ask stupid questions, or say stupid things. sometimes it's accidental, sometimes it's not. sometimes people ask stupid questions or say stupid things without realizing how stupid it may be, or that it may offend someone else. sometimes these questions are honest attempts to learn something about the other person. be proud of who you are as an individual, and of your heritage and background. I am part indian, and it took me awhile to realize that i have a great heritage to be proud of. everyone does, and like me, sometimes they have to do some research to find out exactly what it is. again, don't let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about who you are. if they ask questions that you don't feel like you want to answer, be honest and tell them so. most people will understand this. there have been some amazing black people throughout history, just as there as been in every race. my granddaughter is half black, and i have learned alot about black history since she has been born (three years ago) be proud of who you are. take care.

I think you should be secure in who you are. Sure, stupid people say stupid things and make us feel uncomfortable at times but why should you or I base our self image on what stupid people think? I feel uncomfortable with my light skin sometimes. I'm not even white by race but Hispanic....But there is nothing I can do about it but get a tan and I'd rather feel uncomfortable than die of melanoma.
I say, love yourself and forget stupid people. It's okay to feel uncomfortable but not okay to compromise yourself image because of it. Sorry people have been stupid and mean. >:D<

Do not let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about who you are for any reason... Anyone who would try to make you feel badly is ignorant and small minded. I have noticed that sometimes people of different races ask questions so as to try (unsuccessfully) to put the other person at ease or attempt to let them know they aren't racially prejudiced, never realizing that they are making an @ss of themselves.

As for the obvious idiots on here that post racially offensive questions, ignore them. Maybe daddy didn't hug them enough or someone dropped them on their head as a child; clearly they are damaged humans.

You be you, just the way you are... that is enough.

Baby this is too bad. I'm black and I'm proud of who God made me and of who I am . You do have problems of self steem which is something that you've to fight and win. Only you, have the power to do it. With the help of JESUS CHRIST, I tell you that you can win this feeling. I have an Asian friend who had this some problem, today she is free since she gave her life to CHRIST.

Baby you should thank GOD of how HE made you, cause if you can't love yourself who will? When you want people to accept you the way you are, people must feel the confidence coming from you. If they realise that you self steem is to low, they will not respect you. God made all human beings the way they were suppose to be and look. Yellow, white, pink, brown, black, no matter what color people have, that's the color that God intended them to have. God made the humans as HIS own image, there is anything better then this? Love yourself, tell to yourself every day, that you love who you are and it help you brake this feelling that devil brought into your mind. Remember, satan is a big lier, he only come to steel, kill and destroy.

Ask God to give you the strengh you need to build up your self steem, cause you're very special child of God, no matter what color of skin you have. If can't do it by yourself, seek for a help in a church. Talk to pastor's church, am sure there is a church near you and great pastors there who can help you in prayers. Don't ashamed to talk about it personally with someone. Search for Godly people and they will help you, cause this is a malignum attack. May God bless you.

you gotta look past all the stupid questions on here ..and keep in mind alot are younger than you think... so to them there not always stupid questions....

no need to feel uncomfortable being black...you are who you are and whats on the outside does not matter... i grew up being taught to hate different races.. which i dont hate any race at all as i tell people who make comments. what makes you so dam special. just because your white you think your better... just because we all are different makes no difference cause in the end we are all bothers and sisters and we all bleed the same color..... be proud of you who are .. and dont worry about the color you are cause it doesnt matter.

don't listen to people. some people strive on hurting others. You should be proud of who you are, no matter what race. Sometimes people make me feel ashamed of where I am from, but I always think about how this has made me a better person, and you will become a better person too, you know how it feels to be made fun of, and you will think twice about making fun of others, and ultimately it is easier to accept people for who they are and not what they are because you have been through this. Consider it a learning experience.

GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS YOU

I agree with, someone on here, and too feel uncomfortable being human sometimes. It just feels, heavy.
Guess the best we can do is wonder why, answer the question, deal witht he only reality we can change or that matters, our own, and move on.
