Since you didn't define what kind of rock here's a LOOONG list of some sad rock songs. Not all of them necessarily have to do with love or break ups but still relevant in my opinion. Listed in no particular order, varying from hard rock to indie/acoustic:

- 45 - Shinedown
- Burning Bright - Shinedown
- Vermillion pt. 2 - Slipknot
- Ana's Song - silverchair
- Cannonball - Damien Rice
- Lonely Day - System Of A Down
- Oh Girlfriend - Weezer
- Jolene - The White Stripes
-Too late - No Doubt
- I am - Further Seems Forever
- Tiny Vessels - Death Cab for Cutie
-Prague - Damien Rice
-I guess I'll forget you - The Black Heart Procession
-No One Will Ever Love You - The Magnetic Fields
-Still in love - the Stills
-I want to be buried in your backyard - Nightmare of you (the version i like is a slower one)
-Something I can never have - NIN
-Red Sky - Thrice (not sure if this is sad but its a good song)
-Said Sadly - Veruca Salt
- Solitude - Evanescence
- A Perfect Sonnet - Bright Eyes

If you're wondering why I knew of so many songs its because I have a playlist of sad songs for when I want to throw myself a pity party :P
Enjoy

Carry me away by Concrete Blonde. Or Happy Birthday by the same band. The latter song was written about being stood up on your birthday, but the cool thing is that it's really infectious and will get you up again...
