I think the mess it made in my car was punishment enough, but I guess he didn't notice and so he still gave me a speeding ticket.

Well it could of been worse he could of did a cavity search .

Be glad it was just a speeding ticket and not an open container ticket too. As far as telling him no I doubt if it would've helped. He might have confiscated it and any other you had in the car if you told him about the beer. So be glad it was only the speeding ticket.
