Sounds more like typer's cramp to me. How much time have you been spending in Yahoo Answers? Seriously, you need to see a doctor if it's not that easily explainable. That's not a symptom of diabetes but many other conditions are much more common in people with diabetes so you could get a twofer. It sounds like it might be arthritis but i'm not a doctor.

I have 2 diabetic siblings. Symptoms of the onset of diabetes for my younger brother was intense thirst and constat need to pee. That's because the blood sugar is building up as the pancreas quits producing the insulin needed to put sugar into the liver for storage. So your hand pain is probably caused by something else-maybe you did something intense with it and over worked it.If it's only in the hand then that must be it.

I think the best thing is to consult the doctor.
I doubt if diabetes has anything to do with joint pains, I only supect arthritis but you better consult a docotr immediately. It could also be lack of minerals and vitamins in your body but to get the medication you need to consult the doctor.

It could be osteoarthritis, but it's still early to tell. Maybe you did something very strenous and your hands were fatigued; rest them and don't wash them just after doing something very hard, wait after a few minutes and let your hands cool off. Drink milk, it's good for your bones.
