France is not our "best" ally. That honor goes to the UK with Australia a very close second, if not a neck-to-neck tie. You'd think the Germans would help us out, but they've become too liberal in the last few years after Schroeder.

The French are only our ally when it's to their benefit. At any other time, they oppose us. They are cowards and the whores of the world.

I'm going to assume you meant to ask "Why is the United Kingdom the USA's best ally?" Because the way you worded it, the question doesn't make any sense.

First of all, we speak the same language - English. It's easy to become good friends with members of a foreign country if their native language is the same as yours.

Second, we've had close ties to the UK since World War II when President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill were pretty much best friends. Since then we've been allied with them in the Cold War which lasted almost 50 years. And we are allied with them again in the War on Terror which has now lasted longer than WWII.

Lastly, we've had American bases there since the end of WWII. Although we closed a few of them in the 90s, the largest ones (Lakenheath and Mildenhall) are still there along with a few others.

France isn't America's best ally. I'd say Britain probably is. France's government doesn't even know what side of an issue it's on, how can anyone else?

Yes the gave us the gift of Vietnam and we were dumb enough to accept it!! Granted I like their wine, cheese,Benedictine,Armanac, and calvados(a type of apple brandy!) but I would never mistake them for an ally.It has been a relationship of convenience since an Absolutist Bourbon king financed a REPUBLIC just so he could get back at another king who grabbed his land(Canada, parts of India, etc.)
