There aren't that many sounds a human can hear, and only seven notes on a piano; plus sharps/flats, of course. Or will we have endless music forever?

Mathematically there are over a billion possible combinations of the twelve notes (the seven white keys and five black keys on the piano). And that's without even accounting for rhythmic variations. And of course there are more notes in between those twelve notes that we don't even use in Western music, but they are there nevertheless. I don't think we will exhaust all of the possibilities for tunes anytime soon.

Interesting thought!!! But i dont think it will happen... Because just a slight modification in a tune can change it completely, so there could be endless combinations possible....... And about lyrics, someone somewhere will always find a way to express old thoughts in new words, or new thoughts in old words!!!

Noi dont think that there will be a day when all possible songs will be written as songs are nothing but an artists feelings , his expressions.....
and feelings cannot be stopped as long as feelings and people who can express it are there we wil get many beautiful songs....

There is a finite number of note combinations that can be made however it is such a high number that I doubt the end will come in our lifetime.

we won't exhaust all possibilities here in western music... But remember, in the east they use quartertones, notes in between those on the piano, so no, we won't write every song possible.
