I have recently aquired this vehicle and wondering if it could be brake caliper or wheel bearing. I heard that the front end should probably be rebuilt on these trucks but not sure?? Any tips would be great!

Which tires are installed on this vehicle? The Goodyear Wrangler RTS is usually installed on the Ranger. If this is what you have I would look more closely at the tires as being the cause of the noise and vibration. The RTS from Goodyear are very bad about feathering and wearing the inner and outer edge of the tire on the Ranger. Run your hand along the tread of the tire and see if it is rough and uneven. If it is, this is your problem. I would suggest replacing with a BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A or another good quality tire, but not Goodyear.

Go to a tire shop. Have them check the tire. It could be as simple as a tire out of balance or a bent rim. Once you have found out that that is not the problem...Check the idler arm...Upper and lower A frame, ball joints, and tie rods.
A good way to do this is have someone move the steering wheel right and left...Just shake it, 4 to 6 in. right to left and look for anywhere that has a Lot of play. If you see any...That part needs to be replaced.

must be an errors interior the PATS (Passive Anti-robbery gadget). in case your key has a sprint letter S on one facet of it, it has a PATS. in case you do, attempt this to ascertain no remember if or no longer that's what it relatively is: circulate to start the truck and be conscious the "robbery" gentle. If it is going out once you change the ignition, it would start up. If it does not, yet rather flashes, you need to have it examined. Take it to a community Ford broker and characteristic them run some codes on it. the foremost ought to must be reprogrammed, or, if that doesn't artwork, a sparkling key altogether (the chip must be undesirable). Sorry if that's no longer the subject!

Well, I usually replace just the bearing, but it sounds like the bad bearing has already chewed it's way into the race. You will want to remove the entire hub and take it to a shop and have the old race pressed out. Press in the new race, pack your new bearings with molley grease (the stuff they come with inside of them is crap), put new seals on the hub, and reassemble in reverse order. Good luck.

Tire or bearing and regardless of how well it hums(I know that tune)

you need to FIX immediately. As no one likes a driver who makes

sudden HARD right turns regardless of how good they sound.

I would even think of towing it to be repaired(to a good tire shop).

And at higher speeds, say 15 mph and over, how do you feel about ROLLING down the highway??? No not the good kind of rolling either.

Good luck, make your own good luck AND get it fixed!

Normally you can detect a wheel bearing problem when driving at the speed that you start hearing the roaring you would steer eathier right of left and if the roar quietens then there is slack in that particular bearing that you were steering when the roar quietened.

VIBRATION AND HUMMING TOGETHER USUALLY INDICATES A BAD TIRE, IF IT IS A BEARING IT IS EASY TO CHECK, LIFT THE FRONT OF TRUCK AND SEE IF THE WHEEL WILL MOVE IN OR OUT, IF SO BEARING IS BAD, GET YOUR TIRES CHECKED.

I'd start with the easiest thing...the tire. Switch the left and right tires. If the noise moves to the other side it's the tire.
