I know you don't think it's fair, but in all honesty, it sounds as though you have some pretty caring parents who are only looking out for you. They've also raised your bedtime according to your age. When you think about it, there really isn't much for a kid your age to do after 10, that won't get you into trouble anyway. I have a 14 yr old,12yr old, 8yr old and a 5yr old. They all have different bedtimes. We base this on their age, responsibility factor and the city curfew. Weekday curfews for the older boys are 9 and in bed by 10, weekends are in by 11 and bed by midnight....unless they have a friend over. The younger ones aren't allowed to go off by themselves yet, so there's no curfew, but their bedtime is 9 during the weekday and 10 on weekends. I think alot more parents do this more often than you think. Don't compare your curfew to that of your friends, they have different parents and obviously aren't looked after like they should be.

It is very fair. At 13 you need a bedtime. As long as you are in school, I think parents should give their kids bedtimes. My kids go to bed at 8:30 during school. My oldest is 12.

I think it's a good idea because at your age you need quite a lot of sleep (8-10 hours a night) to be healthy. The fact that you have a bedtime shows that your parents care about you and want you to be well. If your other friends don't have one, I feel sorry for them.

As long as you live under someone who's older than you say... your parents or legal guardian ... and under the age of 21 ... yeah... you have a bedtime and respect that. Just imagine there are some people that are 40 years old and they have a bedtime like you do too... and probably at the same time at 10pm.

No, I do not think that this is a fair situation. Pre-teens need the free space to make their own choices suc h as when it is appropriate to go to bed. However, as a mother, I think that as long as the bedtime is set within reason (not at like 9 ) then yes it could be used for someone your age. Debatable depending on the teen.

There is a simple solution. Promise your parents you will be in bed by ten o'clock. Than you can do whatever you want! A ll you have to do is at ten o'clock go into your bed but after that you can do whatever you want. I do it all the time! It works and your parents won't know as long as you don't leave your room. But anyway I completely agree that is very unfair. I wish I could relate but I'm twelve and I don't have a bedtime.

Well of course it's fair. When you grow up and have kids, you will set rules down to for your kids to abide by. Did you ever think your parents might want some quiet time? They are looking out for you, if you didn't go to bed early you would sleep too late or not be alert in school to get good grades.

It's hard for me to relate to you because I am older, but your parents just know what's best for you. The other parents that don't have a bedtime don't care as much for their children. Parents who have rules care about their children's well being. I know that you don't think that it's fair, but one day you'll see. After all, they probably want you to do good in school, they don't want to see you falling asleep in class every day.

Uh, how are you managing to be online now if you have a bedtime? You must be in another time zone.

Anyway, it does sound unfair to me. Try doing things to show your parent(s) that you are mature and responsible and maybe all that will change.

Good Luck
