A lot of American kids are spoiled. My Dad believed in spankings, but he didn't beat me either. A lecture usually went hand in hand with the spanking. In this way, he taught me right from wrong, responsibility, and work ethic, at a young age. But many American parent's do not believe in spankings or discipline or do not take the time to teach their kids anything, which sad.

Obviously some american parents know that there are worse things than beatings: no tv, no dvd, no internet, no gameboy, no going out on Saturday night, no borrowing the car.
My kid will absolutely do anything to avoid being grounded.

That's it...he has a room of his own. In some counrties, we could only send him to the other side of the pallet the entire family sleeps on.

It's true that many american kids are undisciplined. However this is not always true. My kids know that when they misbehave and don't heed my warning that a time out won't cut it.
