I just saw that movie today, and I was expecting one of those monsters to come out at the end, but one of her cavern partners was there. How'd she get there?

In the original version of the film (as it played in the UK and other countries about a year ago), there's an extra 30 seconds that reveals that the main character was simply daydreaming, and she's actually still in the cave; she hallucinates her daughter in front of her celebrating a birthday, as the camera pulls out and the sound of approaching monsters gets louder and louder.

Apparently, some genius (/sarcasm) decided that *that* ending wasn't good enough for the Hollywood audience. Both endings are a bit cliché, but the problem is they traded out a cliché downbeat ending for a cliché confusing one that, unless you realize it's just a daydream, makes no sense.

If you noticed in the movie that she had daydreams of events and people (her daughter or those rods or whatever).

That was one of those "daydreams".

edit: looking back, I forgot to mention that the girl is her best friend, haunting her. You did see what she did to her best friend, right? In the cave full of bones?
