Peter Crouch isn't the best England centre forward but his strike rate is really fantastic,8 goals in 12 games.Remember dat Andy Cole has a much lower return during his England tenure but he still can partner Micheal Owen up-front.Peter Crouch mayb on d subs bench n subs-on when he's needed. With his strike rate,he mayb a super-sub...No matter wat,Owen-Rooney is d best partnership.Wif Owen suspended,Crouch doesn't need 2 b rushed 2 XI.Defoe,Bent or Ashton can b given chance 2 prove themselves 1st b4 v can say Peter Crouch is d best replacement.

I'm a Liverpool fan, and think Crouch is much better than he was first given credit for by England fans. He is more of a second striker to my mind, rather than an out-and-out goalscorer - good at knocking the ball down, much better at close control than you'd expect, and able to hold the ball up. His lack of pace is one of his biggest weaknesses, and (despite his goal against Greece) for such a tall player, his headers should be more effective. I'd rate Rooney, Defoe, perhaps Bent before him - but while he's scoring, it seems churlish to be overly critical.

No way. He's just a freak that no one can beat in the air. When Rooney is available and a fully fit Micheal Owen (if there is such a thing) he's not a first choice. I don't know hwy he's even in the squad to be honest

I am not a Peter Croach fan.
However, he does score goals. His match statistics are silly (1 goal per match) and he does run around a lot.
He is very tall and is often relatively slow controlling the ball and thn using his feet. He can't seem to penetrate defenses.
But with Owen injured again, and Rooney still not the star in terms of goals (and his temperament, and I'm a MU fan), maybe PC is the man.
Whatever, we are severely lacking in world class strikers, and it hurts.

If he is, and he has the jersey what does that tell you about the standard of English Football and consequently the standard of English coaching and talent spotters?
He has to be without doubt the worst excuse for a footballer I have ever seen at that level

No, I would say a fit Michael Owen is the best, but he is certainly useful to have around. 8 goals in 12 or so caps is not to be sneezed at.

I wouldn't say the best but the boy got skill when he has ball possesion....He gives 150% everytime he plays and I think that is something that we have to appreciate.Unlike most players he's not in it for the fame but to show the world of soccer that he plays with heart....and that his love for the game goes way beyond fame and fortune...With all do respect I think that we should really question Rooney's place in the English side???
