Seriously, I'm reading not only some of these questions on here, but in chat rooms, message board posts, even blogs, and they're constantly full of misspellings and typos. And not just larger words, either, but simple stuff. Doesn't anyone bother to even glance at what they're writing, or have most of us just gone stupid?
I mean a typo here and there is one thing (there may even be a couple in this post, but you can still at least figure out what it says), but for crying out loud.

As you probably know, when people type they like to shorten things so that they can get it over with faster. Another reason is because when using a keyboard and you type fast your fingers can hit keys in the wrong order and most people just don't bother to correct themselves. I am only 12 and I spelt all of the words in this correctly without even using a spellcheck. Maybe another reason is because people are just stupid.

Maybe people want to type faster, shortening their words and not bothering to check for spelling mistakes. Some people just don't care. Others also have less internet time and make mistakes because they're in a hurry. 'Course, there are those that do it on purpose, but that's their problem.

My kids are in their 20's and they were taught to spell by sight, not by phonics. They were told not to look up works in the dictionary because it would stifle their creative flow. Seriously. So, needless to say, their spelling sucks and they don't even realize it. So, I guess that could one of the reasons. The other reasons are
1. Stupidity
2. Laziness
3. Not caring
4. Any or all of the above.

I feel the same way--sometimes I wonder if the real issue is people who don't know who to type and are too lazy to correct their mispellings.
At least, that's what I tell myself. I hate to think there are so many people that not only cannot spell, but don't care to even proofread before they post.

THANK YOU!! I thought I was the only one who cared about that! Some of the questions on this site I can't even figure out. There really is no excuse. I don't get it either. Maybe every one is drunk or something! Who knows!

I am with you. That's my pet peeve. I think it is because the texting habit encourages abbreviations and misspellings and that carries over. They days of correct grammar and punctuation are slowing coming to a halt.

I share your frustration. It drives me insane. Spelling words like... spelling as splngz. It doesn't even make sense. My eight year old sister can spell better then most of the adults online.

Is it that high? Judging by the questions people are asking I would have thought it was much less. There is a thing called "Spell Check"...and it's free!

Well some can't spell, others can't type, and some just try to type too fast.
And all of the above don't know how to use spell check
