By childhood, i mean late teens to early 20's. They're making us pay so much for gas that teens can no longer afford to build up a nice big block v8 engine and really make it scream at the track and on the street. instead they are piecing together these garbage-can hondas and they think they know speed. thanks to exxon, these kids will never know power, they'll never experience getting thrown back in their seat, or feel the exhilaration of a nice RWD posi burnout. So thanks Exxon, thanks for ruining the excitement of real cars.

If I had Your Million$, I'd Perfect My Vaporcarb, which Safely Converts Regular Pump Gasoline into a Super-Thick Rich Propane Mixture that would work better than Nitrous Oxide ! Regular Propane Burns Blue. My Unit goes from Blue to Yellow to Orange. The Darker the Flame, the Richer the Mixture. And, with the Right Setup, 50 + MPG, with even the Largest SUV. And, thanks to Clinton/Gore, and the EPA-OBD II Law that They Mandated, it's Illegal on all Vehicles from ' 96 to the Present ! The "Law" Requires a 14.7 to 1 Air to Fuel Ratio ! Want More ? Go to www.fuelvapors.com and http://energy21.freeservers.com/bookrep.html Imagine a Mid-60's Street Machine getting 50 + MPG, and Turning the 1/4 in 12 Seconds or Less ! It could just Happen ! don't Blame Exxon, Blame our EPA Laws, and those that Know what's best for the rest of us ! Thoughts ?

Your blame is misplaced. Blame it on Venezuela, United Arab Emirates, Saudia Arabia, Iran, other world countries like these where there is a communist, socialist, or monarch ruling and hording the wealth of the country.
Then you combine that with over zealous controls (thanks tree huggers) on where we can explore for oil, overly restrictive laws on building new refineries (thanks liberal controlled congress and senate members of the 1970's and 1980's) & the tendency of people to take Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) attitudes. The last new refinereries were built in the US in the early 1970's, and that is because the politics of the day were refusing to allow construction of new ones, restrictions put on drilling for new oil sources in known reserve areas and more than there is room to explain and document herein.
Greed? If Exxon has no oil to sell, where will they get their money? You're placing blame in the wrong court. While corporate entities sometimes are less than desirably run, the overwhelming majority are well run. But to blanket such companies without proof (congress and senate records are verifiable, check out the facts) is like yelling the sky is falling without looking to see what is happening, when in reality it is just a leaf off a tree.

No no no.... All wrong.
They paid the same price we did.
Inflation is hurting it mostly.
5 cents a gallon. That was pricey back then.
Personally, it isn't that bad... and supply and demand too. I'm keeping my car and I'll wait until everyone gets hydro. and hybrid cars. Then water will cost more than gasoline.

Sorry to be a smart..., but I really think there are more important issues than this one. And like everyone before me here has said... it's supply and demand and a few other factors figured in.

Well if its true what you read in the newspaper and see on tv( you know they wont lie hardly any) about oil companies profits rising I would agree that its corporate greed. Buts that's no revelation...Bought any cheap products made in China lately? They cost just as much as when they were made in the USA...go figure.

Ah, well. I can settle with my roller coasters, but I think that the companies are just greedy. My family used to live in a big house, andd we had tons of money. But thanks to our long commutes (and the whole 911 thing), we now live in the middle of nowhere and all our stuff is old. :((
