And, yes, I think there is such a thing as a love between parents and their children, and a higher power in religion, but it is so funny when you see two people hanging all over each other saying I love you, when they hate each other two days later. Love is something that it requires no physical ties to obtain and exist, even in the event of a relationship, the posibility of no sex, so in reality we all have "conditional love" as long as you make me happy, I'll love you! (for the most part a love based on lust?) What's your thoughts on this statement? (other than telling me I am an idiot for thinking of this)

I agree most people confuse infatuation with love including me. They are not really in love just infatuated with looks or superficial things about the person. I am in love with someone right now and we have never even met. We have shared thoughts, feelings emotions. been there to support each other, make each other smile through words but no physical contact. We don't know if we do meet what we will feel but we know now we are in love but he is in another country and it is impossible right now to meet. We have a close emotional bond closer than allot of the so called in love people that know each other physically.

i think very few people use the word love correctly the people married 30 yrs understand. But not to many other especially all these people out there that are totally confused that say i love you but i'm not in love with you and they cheat. Thats the perfect example of confusing love and lust if you don't have that horny you make me feel good feeling all the time i'm not in love with you. Your right to many people don't use it correctly it's really sad. especially for the kids of these people that don't understand that love is more than a feeling .

I agree with you. I can love my mom, and love my kids, and I love GOD, and I love my friends, dog, etc, but...I am IN LOVE of my boyfriend/fiance I love him when we have ups and downs the love is still there, the love just can not disappear all of the sudden, so, for me you GIVE love ( and say I LOVE YOU) unconditionally, no strings attached no small print no nothing, you just love. So bad there is a few people out there that think that love is something that you give, say and take it away any time they want, like there is no really meaning to it.

You're right. There are different kinds of love. According to paulo cuelho in his book : road to santiago, there are 3 kinds of love. Eros, filial and Agape.
Eros is what we feel when we're in love with someone. Filial is what we feel with family and friends and agape is the highest form of love which we feel when we're in love about everything and anything. This, according to him is directed to no one in particular but to life itself. Agape makes you blissfully happy, sometimes physically giddy.
I personally think that love is a relative word, like everything else in this world. But I also agree with Shakespeare when he said that it is an ever fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken.
Lines like these are responsible for making me a hopeless romantic. Anyhow, try not to be so jaded by the concept of love. After all, its the lover (not the love) who broke your heart.

I think as time has gone on the word LOVE has been reduced in meaning. What love once was is not what it is now. Heck it is even used to sell bud light! LOVE YOU MAN!

i agree with you. just want to clarrify one thing though. we love our family, but we are IN-love with our partner. i think with the latter though the word gets thrown around too much these days cos people feel as though it is something to say cos they are in a relationship. as a result it has lost its meaning somewhat by people saying it and not understanding it or meaning it. it is now just a word.
