As long as both of them find themselves compatible with one another and there will be no obligations to others (husband or wife), I believed, age doesn't matter. Both deserves to be happy.

Well, you could give them your opinion on the situation, but I don't think it's up to you to "let" them date anyone. You can disagree with it, and let your friend know that, but that's it. After that, it's all up to your friend.
