When ppl say that they are referring to our enormously large crime rate here in the states. I am completely pro-gun ownership for home protection.

Your question implies a basic fallacy which renders it little more than an exercise in the hypothetical.
There will never be a place (at least in the US) where "everybody" carries a gun. Even in very gun-friendly states that make it very easy to get a permit, the % of people that do is in the single digits. The biggest number I have ever seen was 10%, and that was for a small county in Texas. So this idea that "everybody" is carrying a gun is nonsense. Oh course the criminals don't know who is and who isn't which is kind of the whole point of concealed carry.
It has never been the position of gun rights advocates that everybody should carry a gun, just like it's not the position of abortion rights people that every baby be aborted or feminists that every woman become the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. It's about choice ; the freedom for law-abiding citizens to make decisions themselves about what works best to protect themselves and their families.

I carry a gun, and I'll tell you straight out, no I wouldn't feel safer if EVERYONE had a gun. But you can feel safer knowing that I have a gun; it will reduce the possibility that you will try something stupid that could end your life very quickly and without hesitation. I am a gentle man who greatly respects human life, especially mine, but don't test it. You would fail.
There are people in the world who would not handle the resposnibility of gun ownership. The ones I'm talking about are the idiots you see on TV who have let a child gain access to it, and then got hurt or worse. Then there are the deranged. Or the mentally incompetent. Or those with anger management issues (ie: "Road Rage." )
Gun ownership is only a right in the right hands; then it's only a priviledge, and a priviledge can be revoked, just like a drivers' license.
The world would probably be safer if NO ONE had guns, including governments. But as long as there are armed governments, and {other} criminals, the need for armed citizens will remain.

columbine, 911, numerous courthouse shootings wouldnt of happened if people were allowed to carry for self defense.
The terrorists would still of tried to take the planes, the kids still would of attacked the school, but armed civilians would of had the means to protect themselves. Just remember the media is anti freedom, and they report only the violence that people cause. They neglect to mention all the times armed civilians stop crime. On average police mistakenly shoot 11% of the time, while legally armed civilians have a rate of only 2%. This isnt saying the police are bad, just that they arrive on the scene in the middle of the action and get confused as to what is going on.
Also armed civilians kill more criminals than police do, also the fact that civilians are required to conceal makes it hard for a criminal to take the weapon from the owners holster, as this happens to cops often. All the REAL statistics show that an armed civilian poplulation is safer and more effective.
Also owning a gun is a right, not a privelidge, at least here in America.

I believe the United States would be much safer if everyone carried guns. Why? Because people would think twice before shooting someone beause they know everyone around them is armed as well.
Regardless of whether or not it would be safer, I believe that we are garunteed, by the Constitution, the right to carry firearms. I do however support gun registration, and permits for concealed weapons. If someone wants to have a automatic M16, that is their right, but the government should know about it.

In Switzerland, every person is required to carry some sort of weapon. The worst ever shoot out that happened in the last 10 years was one person went ballistic and killed 16 people. Mind you, that was probably the first and only fire fight Switzerland had in around 10 years.
To go by an old quote, "An armed society is a polite society."
I don't care how much of a nut case you are, you pretty much want to live. But as you pull out the gun, the general population points all THEIR gun at you. In other words, the first to draw is the first to lose.

According to Dr. John Lotts exhaustive research on areas with liberal "right to carry" permit laws, the overall crime rate goes down significantly when criminals don't know who is armed and who is not. That is the key! Not knowing who is armed. Makes for a much safer community. Check out his book, "More Guns Less Crime". A fantastic work. Join the N.R.A.

i feel safer if non-felony convicted level headed men and women may have guns around me, because they'd pretty much only be used against a pistol packing crack dealer. gun laws just limit the number of guns in law abiding civilians hands remember that, the criminals will still pack them, and in fully automatic, with 100 round clips you name it. the criminals are the ones who buy 40 dollar illegal handguns go shoot several people and throw it in the river. if some more safe citizens had legal guns with them, maybe we could save some more good citizens.

I am a firm believer in gun control. Of course my idea of gun control is hitting what you are aiming at! And being a Montanan who has hunted most of my life, I have excellent gun control.

Depends which country you are in. In Switzerland there are more guns than people but it is unheard of that someone is killed by one so you could say it works there.
Don't think it would work in america though you are too bloodthirsty
