Talking intelligently and clearly isn't the property of white people. There are plenty of white people that talk white trash and you can't understand half of what they say. For the most part, not always, if you can't speak clearly, you are lazy. Of course there are exceptions, but in general.
It is the same crap some people excuse Bill Cosby of. Being a sell-out or not honoring the black race. What a load. If someone has a view of black people as needing to always agree with the democrat's view, talking street, and working blue collar jobs, to honor Blacks, then they ARE the ones with problem.
Just be yourself, of course you already know that.

I can only guess you speak English in a way that doesn't sound "ghetto" or "street". Good for you. Don't let other people keep you down or call you a race traitor. There is no such thing.
To talk like a white person might mean you sound as if you have been educated, and aren't willing to dumb yourself down and sound like a high school dropout. Why is this a bad thing?
The only way for the brother to get ahead in this world is reject the negative elements of his own culture and embrace positive values, like speaking clearly and intelligently, rejecting peer pressure, and being self-reliant.
Don't let the white man keep you down, but by that same token, don't let the black man keep you down either. There's no reason you should let ANYONE keep you down.
Welcome to freedom and independence. If it means being shunned by your lesser peers, then shake them off like the trash they are, and make a name for yourself.
You must fight against bigotry and the "plantation" mentality; in order to be "black", you have to act a certain way. I'm not sorry to inform you, but no one has any right to tell you how to act, or how to live your life. If they do, they aren't your friends. They certainly aren't your brothers. They have no loyalty for you. Why should you be loyal to them?
Be yourself. Don't ever sell out to be popular, or you aren't yourself anymore. You become a whore.
Don't be a slave or a whore. Be a man. Be black your own way.
Being black isn't something you have to do. It's something you are. No one can take that away from you, no matter how ignorant they are.

An observation from my school daze many years ago.
There were black students that sat in the back of the classroom, disinterested in learning using the excuse of "not being a part of white man's world". There were black students that sat in the front of the classroom that took great interest in learning and participating in the process.
The folks that chose to learn developed good language skills and have become contributing members of society. Those that did not are living in the margins.
One of these schoolmates who chose to learn even went on to become an NFL head coach.
Language is a key part of being educated. It does not define race. Those that think otherwise are ignorant. There's only one color that is important in America. The green of money. Being ignorant doesn't get you much.

be yourself dude. I'm a Puerto Rican living in NYC and i get that crap from some of my Friends. but their the ones that don't work and hang out drinking 40's all day.
