History reveals that it was Octavian who ruled the Roman Empire after defeating Mark Antony and Cleopatra, but there is no mention of “Brutus” - one of major characters in that historical assassination. Whether Octavian eliminated him among others?

Instead of being claimed as a hero of the Republic, Brutus along with Cassius and all the senators which participated at Caesar's assassination, was hunted down and killed (in the battle of Philippi, at the border between Macedonia and Thrace) by the men of Marcus Antonius and Gaius Octavius.

The propaganda against Caesar's assassins was so well crafted that the People of Rome were quickly manipulated into hating the ones that really wanted to save the Republic from the hands of a tyrant.

What Cassius and Brutus did was a political assassination (I think that if somebody would have assassinated Hitler, history would not consider that person a criminal but rather hail him as a hero of humanity)

In my opinion this is a grim episode in roman history. With the beginning of the Empire, Rome fell back from democracy to tyranny. The reign of terror under Augustus' Praetorian Guard (a repression machine similar to Stalin's NKVD or Hitler's Gestapo) was installed. And as the beast called terror was unleashed, nobody could stop it not even the emperor.

Brutus and his co-conspiritors had committed treason so they fled Rome. Brutus went to Athens and began to raise money for the inevitable battle which would follow. Octavian (Caesar Augustus to be) and Mark Anthony joined forces and took their armies insearch of the traitors. Shortly after The Battle of Phillippi when Brutus had been forced to retreat and flee, he committed suicide by falling on his sword.
