Yeah its the Piano :)
The basic of all music notes r derived from Piano. Not only that when u hear some one playin it u feel romantic. Next to that i would say Violin is an awesome instrument to bring melancholy feel in any song. Guitar is an all round player :)

i don't think there really is just one number one instrument.
all are beautiful in their own unique way, and the pieces composed for each instrument are all wonderful in different ways.
but the piano is definitely one of the best, in my opinion. i wish i could accompany myself when i'm singing... i'm sure a lot of people would envy someone who can both play and sing. at the same time.
