Shouldn't you be asking yourself? You're the one that's gonna have to live with it, not us. It shouldn't matter what others think.

If ya like it, go for it.
If you have hesitations (and you obviously do), then don't do it.

My neighbor received hers a few weeks ago.

If you didn't know:
The process is, obviously, painful. The amount of your tongue that they have to remove is larger than the actual incision of the needle in order for the tongue to heal and allow the piercing to heal inside the hole. If you cannot stand the pain, Advil or Alieve shoud be in handy. Not only that, but the first few weeks will be a horror to eat and speak. My neighbor had to carry around a cup to spit her blood in because the profuse amounts of blood kept coming out. If it gets way too out of hand, then go to the person that gave you the piercing (assuming that they were licensed to do so) and ask what to do, or see a doctor.

If you did know:
Then the piercing should have much to do about your regular life, meanin that anyone who sees it will have a preconceived notion about the people who wear piercings are. Piercings in notable places of the body do not bode well in a corperate industry, so if you plan on professionalism in your job, this probably isn't the best idea to do. I, however, am not sure how one would take a piercing out, so perhaps if you or whoever you would like to discuss this with is thinking about having it removed, then see a professional.

Well, you tongue wasn't meant to be punctured, so that means you are essentially letting someone stab you in the mouth; some dentists will not clean your teeth as you mouth carries a lot of bacteria without the added foreign material (the bar); the ball or bar chips the insides of your molars and causes a lot of dental problems, it costs money, it's a fad that will fade away, people think you do it for oral sex and it's part of that whole tramp stamp outfit... but if you want to, it's your choice. Just do all of us a favor when in public wear a clear ball so we don't have to look at it when you talk. (And please don't slur and eat funny because it's in your mouth, okay?)

the human mouth is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.bacteria love to live in dark moist places,by piercing your tongue you increase the risk of getting an infection.

my friend had a tongue ring, and she ended up swallowing the cap of the ring in the night, so she woke up and she just had the needle part of the tongue ring left and it could have pierced the roof of her mouth if she hadn't noticed it soon enough.
