I want to use my old hardive as an external, i bought a new enclosure but it doesnt seem to work-probably because it still has the old information on it and has windows on it. Will F disking the hard drive solve my problem?

nopes. the data on it has nothing to do with it. check that the power supply is string enough to sping yor disk. For old hard drives sometimes u need external power on your USB case ti get them working. also, are you able to read other hard disk using this new casing that you have purchased.

Have you check to make sure your cable is connected tightly to the harddrive and the power plug? It sounds like your pc is may not be recognizing your external harddrvie via usb. Have you tried rebooting with all hardware connected? check to see if the external harddrive is set to be a slave. You do not need to F disk the drive. The data on the drive have nothing to do with your external drive not working with your usb.
