thanks guys,I usually don't care about them too much because we are out in the country but because he is digging right by the wall we are a little concerned, since we all know what a family of groundhogs could do to the foundation.

You probably don't need a professional. All you need to do is lay out some bubble gum around your house (the real chewy stuff that loses its flavor in 30 seconds.) They like that stuff, but can't swallow and digest it. That will kill them. I know it sounds bad, but if you call a pest control guy all they are going to do is kill the thing too. If you want to pay a little more, you can hire a trapper. Check the yellow pages. Don't try to trap it yourself. They get really really mad and violent. Good luck.

>Buy, rent or borrow a "Hav-A-Heart" trap, bait the trap with apples or rabbit food (alfalfa pellets). When the animal has been caught pick up the trap by the handle that's on top. DO NOT put your fingers through the wire into the trap.

Place the trap with the animal inside into the trunk of your car.

Drive to a location at least a mile and a half away (preferably to the property of someone you dislike), remove the trap from your vehicle, open the door on the trap (with the door facing away from your body) and the woodchuck ...ooops...groundhog will scurry away to find a new home.<

I have one too. Don't try the live traps. It didn't work for us(or maybe we didn't have the right bait but after a month of trying different things we gave up). If you find a good way please let me know. I didn't want to poison them due to the other animals around and I haven't talked to a pro yet because I was afraid of that (poison). We even tried flooding the tunnels all that did was get the neighbor's basketball court flooded out since he had an opening right above it.

I am wondering if this groundhog is confused about what time of year this is... SMILE It isn't time for him to help us with the weather yet. I am a true lover of animals and all kinds. I would hope you could get rid of him without hurting him. I would make sure that happens. I wish I knew how to help you with that situation. Do you have a animal shelter(humane society) in your area because they might beable to help. Also call your local police department and see if they could help. Like I said most of all make sure he isn't harmed and they he is taken back to nature.

If next to the house an if your in a rural area, no pets around. I would use a #210 killer trap.

or sit back with a .22 rifle....that is what I did

try getting coyote pee, you can get it in granules or powder online. They smell it and think that a preditor is nearby.
