I was thinking he wasn't in prison too long. A friend told me it had been about 2 years, I am thinking less than that. I can only find when he died in prison, not when he went to prison and how long he was there before he was killed. I honestly don't think that people who commit crimes against children or hanous crimes like he committed last very long in prison.

He was arrested in 1991 and died in 1994. He and another inmate, Jesse Anderson were killed by Christopher Scarver.

On 13 July 1992, Dahmer put in a plea of guilty but insane, however, after a short trial, during which he was protected from the wrath of his victims by an 18-feet high barrier, the jury found Dahmer 'guilty but sane'. He was sentenced to serve 15 life terms (or 957 years) in prison, but was murdered only two years later by Christopher Scarver.
