if i were to cancel my debit card would i still be able to buy stuff online with my paypal account? i have to cancel it because a company in florida got a hold of my info and they're signing me up for a lot of stuff i dont want and my bank's urging me to cancel the card. but i need to know if paypal requires the debit card.

I believe it's only part of the original verification process. Once you've been verified, it doesn't matter if you remove it. The main part is that you have a checking account that's still active.

In the future, I suggest you avoid using your debit card online, especially since it's linked to your bank account. What you should do if you really need to have one, is to open a 2nd checking account with a debit card that always has a low balance. That way if your info is stolen or the account gets compromised, there's not much in there for anyone to take.

The best option is to list a low limit credit card on your Paypal account.
