My friends and I are celebrating my 19 birthday on monday. We want to do something, maybe get some food, but not really expensive. We really don't know how to celebrate. Any ideas? (No drugs, alcohol, or sex please =P that is for later)

I think a good way to celebrate (INSTEAD of going out to eat) is plan some sort of event like going to the movies or arcade or something, then grab a bunch of cheap party food from a store, and go back to someone's place who it doesn't matter if you're up late and making noise.

Turn on some tunes, have food laying about the house for anyone to eat, and invite people over who you don't normally hang out with much (but don't mind having in the house).

It's a good way to socialize without needing to really have drugs/sex/alcohol, but you DEFINITELY need the rock'n'roll!

How about a Cable car ride in SF or a stroll through Pier 39
At the end you can dine at the Cheesecake Factory (atop Macys in Union Square)
In order to keep the cost down, order and share appetizers. The portions are very large. Also there is Pizza and salads large enough to share.
Sodas are huge and free refills are available
Happy Birthday

Well, you can make it simple like ordering pizza or Mediterranean food. Try something different. Most of all, have fun. Don't emphasize too much on the food and what not. Enjoy the day, celebrate another day of life.

Take a walk up Fillmore Street north of Geary Blvd. See what happens to catch your eye(s). You'll find everything in food and fun stuff. Lots of shops, lots of good eats. Don't miss what's up the side streets - like California, Sacramento, etc. Bring money.

There are many things to do outside - play golf, putt-putt, go shopping together and try on clothes (nothing says you have to buy them), go to the cosmetics counter and have a free "make-up" treat, go to a park and have a picnic, if there is an area that has museums or galleries, go gallery hopping, have songs dedicated to you on the radio, go to a baseball game, bbq in the back yard with hotdogs and play CD's, rent a good movie and have popcorn... lots to do... celebrating is being alive and with your friends and family.

my coolest birthday was this year...my friends set up some decorations and a cake at the bowling alley and we just bowled and hung out...it was sooo cool. we have quarter bowling nights where we pay $11 per person for unlimited bowling and shoe rental and then you only pay 25 cents for each soda, hot dog, or draft beer you want...if they have a night like that where you live, its a good idea...also my other friend had a skating party...that was fun but the skating rink wouldn't let us bring a cake or decorations so we set that stuff up at my house and surprised her afterward... :)

North Beach has some good restaurants. There's always Pier 39, Chinatown and Japantown.

Why don't you set up a car rally and break up into teams. Get your mum or someone to go around town to find questions. You can have to hunt down answers to things about you town or find things or collect things, first team back wins a prize.

I like karaoke and bowling or painting. Maybe buy a really big canvas and give each friend only one color and see what you create.
