I feel guilty when I see an elderly person gripping the wheel for dear life.....then I think they probably don't have anyone to take them to the doctor or the grocery store. But their slow driving can be such a hazard on the street.

Road rage is an abstraction. We are abstracting the other people, making them not real. When I was in hospice nursing, after I pronounced a man's wife in his home and after the funeral home had taken her body, I held the old gentleman for half an hour as he sobbed in wrenching grief over his loss. It almost broke my heart. Later, I was crashing around on 18 lane crowded highways. It was a hot and miserable and exhausting day. I got furious over some asshole who was in my way and I cut him off in pure road rage. It was the last time I ever abstracted other people in cars. As I roared by the idiot, who had been frightened half to death by my rage, I looked his way in disgust ... and that driver was the man I had held as he sobbed over losing his wife a few hours earlier. He was driving to the airport to pick up relatives. His mind was ...um...on something else. When we drive and feel angry at others, it's important to remember that real people have real reasons for driving too slow or absentmindedly. I never felt more ashamed of myself than I did that day.

I get road rage and talk major bs but I rarely feel bad bcuz of it. If they can't drive, they can't drive. Someone who is an old person with a handicap shouldn't be driving. It's kinda rude but I don't want to be driving when I'm 78 years old. I wouldn't want to be cursed at everyday.

YES! One time....(true story) my brother flew into town, (he lived about 2,500 miles away) and no one knew he was coming. Anyways...he rented a car at the airport, and on my way home from work he was driving over this huge bridge at the same time I was and he cut me off, and forced me into oncoming traffic! I was so mad, I rolled down my window, yelled and screamed and gave him the finger, and then I saw that it was my brother! Haha, talk about embarssing, he says that he didn't do it, but he did! Needless to say, it's been about 23 years and he still has to bring it up. I don't have road rage anymore!

Rarely do I feel guilty. I mean some people are oblivious of other vehicles on the road, some I SWEAR are legally blind, and some just don't give a F**k and think they own the road. Unless you "sufi" them and they look depressed about it, it's no big deal.

What the heck gives your or anybody else the right to become a wreckless driver and get road rage. It is people that get road rage that cause the most accidents.

Yep... I drove professionally for 18 yrs, situations like the one you describe are what made me just decide to let it go... Stupid people are everywhere, you cannot fight them all... Besides, if you just came from the Dr., and found out you had cancer, your driving would be affected, and you cannot know everyone's situation. Much better to be a forgiving type, and hold your tongue. Makes you a better person, too, I think.....

That actually did happen to me. I was driving my hot rod home from work one day and this old lady just turns into her drive right in front of me. I slammed on my brakes and tried to swerve out of the way but it was too late. God I was pissed. I was ready to tear whoever was driving that vehicle a new a**hole. I flung my door open and started walking tword the other car and out comes this I guess she had to be in her 80's, old lady. She told me with a shakey voice "It was your fault". I was like dammit. But anyway it turned out to be sort of a blessing in diguise because I got a new hood, bumper, grill, and the front of my car painted for free out of the deal.
