Think about it.
"I'll never give a veto to any country over our security. But . . ."
"I believe in being strong and resolute and determined. And I will hunt down and kill the terrorists, wherever they are. But . . ."
"We have to be steadfast and resolved, and I am. And I will succeed for those troops, now that we're there. We have to succeed. We can't leave a failed Iraq. But . . ."
"I believe that we have to win this. The president and I have always agreed on that. And from the beginning, I did vote to give the authority, because I thought Saddam Hussein was a threat, and I did accept that intelligence. But . . ."
"I have nothing but respect for the British, Tony Blair, and for what they've been willing to do. But . . ."

"What I want to do is change the dynamics on the ground. And you have to do that by beginning to not back off of the Fallujahs and other places, and send the wrong message to the terrorists. You have to close the borders. You've got to show you're serious in that regard. But . . ."
"I couldn't agree more that the Iraqis want to be free and that they could be free. But . . ."
"No president, through all of American history, has ever ceded, and nor would I, the right to pre-empt in any way necessary to protect the United States of America. But . . ."
"I've never wavered in my life. I know exactly what we need to do in Iraq, and my position has been consistent: Saddam Hussein is a threat. He needed to be disarmed. We needed to go to the U.N. The president needed the authority to use force in order to be able to get him to do something, because he never did it without the threat of force. But . . ."

Excuse me, cory, when you use words like NEVER and ALWAYS, and then use BUT, you do NEGATE what you have said. Look at the statements.

He's making a poor attempt to appease the left and confuse the middle to win an election.
My mom always said, "If you stand in the 'middle-of-the-road' long enough, eventually you're gonna get hit."
Kerry hasn't learned that lesson yet; even after getting pummeled. The right was never fooled. The "center" figured him out. The left doesn't even want him any longer.
btw....love CB's answer.

Wow. Reading Kerry's remarks almost makes me want to stand up on my feet and applaud. I wish I could say that Bush spoke with the same fervor and eloquence. I like particulary his statement that we "can't leave a failed Iraq". As one who had fought in a war himself he understands what it means to defend this country.
I know you see a lot of "buts" in all this BUT I don't think it really means anything. BUT I do think it's just like the way bush says, "Uh" all the time when he is talking.
But, but, but....

Dude, everyone who answers questions here gets it. You hate John Kerry, good for you. Not even the Democrats that voted for him really liked him, they just thought Bush was worse. He went through the old boys club of Yale Skull and Bones just like Bush. So I really don't trust a word either says.

Well, Mr, Skerry, You think you are pretty clever, but YOU'RE NOT. Oh, I'm sorry, since you're the one who is clever, I must be the dumb one because I am spelling the word You're (contraction for you are) and you are spelling it Your, which is a possessive pronoun. And Mr. Know it all Skerry, You think you're pretty Intellagent. BUT YOU"RE NOT, because intelligent people know how to spell. I think you had better go back to school or at least learn a little bit of logic.

Okay, I read all the responses before mine. Grammar, bashing, whatever...John Kerry's words mean nothing and they all need to be nullified.

How about "before". "I voted for the war BEFORE I voted against it" .
One of my favorite radio personalities loves to say "Anything after but is BS"

Please keep fighting the last election in your head. Perhaps it will keep you from realizing when the next one comes around and we can vote your ilk out of office.
Regards.
