It's not as simple as it seems:
When you install a application, program or file, then it usually writes values to the registry, the administrators folders, win32, system, and system32, just a few to mention, and when it writes to these places, it leaves a reference to where it's located, and the shortcut to it........... To Be Safe, Uninstall these from their current location, and reinstall to the other.... This will insure all needed files and registry values will travel with it.... And the size of the drive is a small part of the problem, unless you are running these at startup, these would not normally slow your computer down like you say, what's using resources from the computer, and the amount of memory, and the speed of the processor, these are the things that slow a pc down, not what's on the harddrive............ Hoped this cleared it up for you... Good Luck

....... Most New Computers, Mine included did not come with one, I had to have Dell Install one at extra charge, because of the inexpensive USB Flash Drives, most OEM Manufactures are doing away with Floppy Drives, Makes Sense...See Ya

Well, the same way you move minor files. Just kidding. Anyway, so all of your files are on the "A" floppy disk drive? Wow, I am amazed at how you've crammed all those on there like that. I would imagine that to make the computer work at normal speed, you would want to move these programs such as Word to your hard drive. It is usually lettered as "C" but it's possible yours is "F." In any case, go to the "My Computer" area and open "A" and open your hard drive as well. Then, (assuming everything is organized neatly) just click and drag your files to where you want them and they will copy.

But I am wondering if you are sure you are correctly naming your drives. You have all of your files on a floppy disk? That seems odd and almost ludicrous. And you want to move them to "F" (a removable disk, DVD drive etc) and not to your "C" drive (hard disk)?

Some people are saying that you must uninstall and reinstall. This will work as well, but DO NOT uninstall unless you have the disks or it will be gone forever!! Also, my way works too but your shortcuts won't work. I am also wondering about how old your computer is and whether it might be best to look into a nice new inexpensive one from Dell (maybe about $600-700)?

You need to use something like norton ghost or a program that does complete back ups of hard drive and then back it up to a partition on the BIG hard drive. And exactly what are the sizes of your hard drives? As far as I know the A drive is reserved for diskettes, it could be something else in your computer, usually old hardware.

You cannot move these applications by simply copying them to your large drive. What you need to do is re-install them in your large drive using your installer CD's. Also, if your windows XP is currently installed on your small drive, you may need to re-install it first on the other drive before your applications

I hope this helps.

What? A: drive is the floppy drive.

F drive?

No, you can't, you just can't.

Get a bigger hard drive.

Better yet, get a faster computer.

You can't just move those programs... you have to uninstall them, then reinstall them into the larger drive.
