Its actually called conscious or lucid dreaming. You can be trained to do this or some people come by it naturally. Most notice it in the time after they hit the snooze alarm. If you don't completely wake up when your sleep is interrupted, you can rapidly return to your dream state, but still retain the ability of control. Its kind of cool - so of like the old "create your own adventure" books we used to read as kids.

Yes. I manipulate my dreams all the time. I find it particularly easy first thing in the morning, when I initially wake up, throw my alarm clock at the wall and go back to sleep. This second sleep is then completely under my control and I can dream about anything I like. And yes, I'm definitely asleep and awake at the same time because when I wake up I have no sense of time passing but I can remember everything I was dreaming about, because I chose the path it took.

You'll already be aware by now that this type of dream phenomena is called lucid dreaming.

There are several books on the topic and the most notable author and researcher is Stepen Laberge.

Some people have a natural propensity to dream lucidly and to varying degrees of awareness. Stephen Laberge offers techniques for improving the ability to have lucid dreams. The success rate however varies greatly from person to person.

Not sure, I have 'known' or 'thought of' what was going to happen in a dream and then it would sort of happen. Kind of like a movie that you have seen in the distant past and can just bairly remember peices of. I would also sort of replay parts of the dream to get it right, but not exactly because I wanted to or anything. It is usually a very fuzzy line of consciousness. Not too sure that this is what you meant.

yes, once. i was in a dream being yelled at by a person i didn't like. and for some reason my mind clicked and i realized i was in a dream. so i just said, this is my dream so leave. and poof they were gone. it was awesome. unfortunately i woke up after it and have never been able to control an aspect of a dream sense. but occasionally i do realize that i am dreaming, but then wake right up. it stinks, i tasted the sweet fruit only to never see it again i'm afraid

I know this will sound weird, but my brother was telling me about a dream that he had similar to what you mentioned. In his dream though, he was back in the past to about the time he was a youngster. However, in his dream he was the same age as now. Anyway, he remembered everything so vivid he said it was just so real like he was there. He even remembers thinking, "this can't be a dream because it's so real."

Yes, I realised I was in a dream and I didn't like a part of it, so I closed my eyes, concentrated, and changed it, then I pretended to be a god as I proved to other people that I could do anything just by thinking about it. Then the demons came...and went...and more fun **** was about to happen when my fuggin alarm clock went off.
