if a skull has been outdoors do you still clean it by boiling it.?

wanting to paint on it.its been sitting out doors for awhile.

Er, I guess that's none of my business. I haven't ever boiled a skull, but if I planned to have one indoors, I would want to de-germify it. Bleach might do the trick, and it would whiten the bone as well (a bone-collecting friend kept telling me to bleach my [outdoor] cow skull).
