people think that tennis is a really easy sport hit the ball and get it in. but it will take a lot of practice. I've been playing with my sister for at least 5 years and we are pretty good. we made our high school tennis team. if you are a fast learner and try to do everything that they tell you the first time i think that it will take a few years still. but don't worry it takes every one a while. to make the person giving you the lesson happy move your feet the first day. all you need to day is jump a little off the ground. even the days you don't have a lesson you should go to your club and practice. you must be very determined to get good if you have tennis lesions 4 times a week and 2 hours each. good luck i hope that you get good.

Tennis is an amazing, life-long sport. You will always have some thing to improve, no matter how good you think you are. If you just started tennis and you want to play in a "good way" it's going to take a bit of time. Go for it and get working, but don't' over exhaust yourself, if you do that then you might not be so keen on it in a short while.

This is great. If you can keep at it you will be good before you realize you are. They say it takes 5 years before you become a great player but I have seen people come up from a month of lessons and beat everyone and even end up with a tennis scholarship. It just matters that you are doing it and want to do good.

I'm almost 15, I started when I was 13 and I play in challenges now. So never too late. Just keep faith and really enjoy tennis. You really wanted to, you could become professional by about 24 years. No later.

Tennis is a great sport. It depends on what you consider good. Playing in local tennis tournaments with varying levels of competition from beginner to advanced would be a great way to start. It would probably take an athletic person about six months to a year to be proficient at footwork, backswing, and serving in local "beginner" skilled tournaments or playing on weekends with your friends.
Good Luck!

Define good.
At your pace, you should be playing decent tennis within a year and half.
At 6 or 7 years playing, you could competitive. Of course It´s up to your personal talent and commitement to the game.

The learning curve varies from person to person but if you have lessons 4 times a week 2 hours a day, you should be at the NTRP level of 3.0-3.5 in about a year.
Here's the NTRP level guide. http://www.usta.com/leagues/custom.sps?iType=931&icustompageid=1655
At the 3.0-3.5 level you can consistently hit the ball. Tennis is a great game and i enjoy it a lot.
