I was in Cali. from '87 to 92 and saw two migrations. If you found one, he could either be the beginning{ RUN!} or the end.
Generally, they migrate to a certain area to mate and they are pretty serious about getting there. Case in point, in '90, about 100,000 were crossing the road- it was a dark cloud of crawlies moving from our right to left. My buddy was driving and saw what looked like a shadow but there were no clouds. he slowed and then stopped when he realized what it was. he approached them and a couple rared up on their hind legs like they were daring him to get closer! He took it personally ad floored it!
I almost wet my jams! (They dont make shorts like them anymore...) Any how, they just wanted some poon and we squashed a bunch of them. We checked the car for weeks afterwards for the creepy lil devils!
As far as what you can expect, well, it depends on if your guy was a stray or the "Point man" .There may be a few go-zillion more to come or the whole thing could be over.
Personally, I'd drive up to 'Frisco for the weekend and stay the hellaway for a bit.
