What does it mean about the United States with the qoutation....America is not like a blanket-one piece of unbroken cloth,the same color,the same texture,the same size,.America is more like a quilt-many pieces,many,colors,manysizes,all woven and held togetherby a common thread.

Means we are very diverse, lots of different types of people and cultures, not all the same kind of people.

That we are not a nation of one type or race of people. We have as many different kinds of people as a multi-colored quilt has. We have blacks, whites, Chinese, Japanese, etc. We have Christians, Mormons, atheists, Muslims, etc. We have any and every kind of person known on the face of the earth, excepting maybe a rare tribe of people from Africa or something like that.

I think they're talking about the "melting pot" Idea, where our nation is made up of many cultures, people, and religions, but we are still one with the common thread of nationalism

It means that it a nation where you can find people from all race, caste, color, religion, etc..... People from all over have come here and settled from the beginning.... and everyone are driven by common values and goals....

I guess it means us Americans r all equal in the eyes of god but jus have different features by color, shapes, and sizes and we all stick together
