My daughter needs help and I havent got a clue! If you know these answer please explain and help. If you cant explain then just give me the friggen answers! Thank you.

This is the first one
5 to the 5th power = 3,125m 5 to the 4th power =625
5 to the 3rd power = 125
5 to the 2nd power = ?
5 to the 1st power = ?
5 to the 0 power = ?
There are 2 more like this but if you give good directions i can help her with the rest.

How do u do this one 7,000 = n x 10 to the 3rd power

To answer the last part of your question, you just count the number of zeros in 7000....which is 3. So 10*10*10 = 1000 = 10^3 so 7*10^3 = 7000

5^2 = 25
5^1 = 5
5^0 = 1

Whatever the power is.....multiply the number, answer that many times together. For example 5^3 = 5 x 5 x 5 = 25 x 5 = 125. Any number to the zero power is ALWAYS equal to one, no matter what.

Second question: multiply out the 10^3, basically add three zero's, hince the power of 3. 10^3 = 1000. Divide 7000 by 1000 to get "N" The zero's cancel leaving you with 7.

The answers stating that 5^0 is zero are all wrong. I am postively 100% that anything to the zero power is one.

Ok, it has been a while, but the "powers" thing works like this.

The "power" indicates how many times the number has been multiplied by itself.

Assume "N" is a number. The "^" sign just means that the number following "N" is a power.

N^0 equals NOTHING.
N^1 equals N
N^2 equals N x N, or N squared (if N=3, then N^2=9)
N^3 equals N x N x N, or N cubed (if N=3, then N^3=27)
N^4 equals N x N x N x N . (if N=3, then N^4=81)

etc etc etc.

If you are having trouble remembering which portion of a math problem to do when, try remembering the following phrase:

"Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally."

This will help you remember the ORDER OF MATHEMATICAL OPERATIONS.

P--Parenthesis-do anything in parenthesis first!
E--Exponents-do exponents (POWERS) next!
M--Multiply
D--Divide
A--Add
S--Subtract

Ok, so according to the rules, you have 7,000 = N x 10^3, what do you do?

First, figure 10^3. Take that answer; you now have :
7,000 = N x (answer: 10^3)

Solve for "N". You have to divide 7,000 by (answer: 10^3)

Hint: 10^3 = 10 x 10 x 10 = 1,000

Hope this helps

Its very simple.

5 to the 5th power means 5x5x5x5x5 that is equal to 3125

Similarly 5 to the 4th power means 5x5x5x5 = 625

In the same way,
5 to the 3rd power = 5x5x5 = 125
5 to the 2nd power = 5x5 = 25
5 to the 1st power = 5
5 to the 0 power = 1 (Because according to Maths Theorems "Anything to the power of zero is one.)

The second problem goes like this :
7,000 = n x 10 to the 3rd power
ie 7000 = n x 10 x10 x10
which implies 7000 = 1000n
Hence n = 7000 / 1000
n = 7

5 to the 2nd power = 5 x 5 = 25
5 to the 1 power = 5
5 to the 0th power = 1 (Anything to the 0 power is always 1)

5 to the X power just means that you multiply 5 times itself X number of times.
For example:
5 to the 5th power = 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5
5 to the 4th power = 5 x 5 x 5 x 5
etc.

7,000 = N x 10 to the 3rd power
Well...10 to the 3rd power equals 10 x 10 x 10 which equal 1,000
So:
7,000 = n x 1,000

and you can figure it out from there.

You're talking about exponential notation. If 5^3 is 125, and 5x5x5 = 125, does that explain anything?

5^2 would then be 5x5.
And of course, any number times 0 is ...? Yup.

n is a variable. You have 3 zeros in 7000. That's why it's to the third power. So replace the n with the only number given.

Does that help?

5 to the 2nd power is the same as 5 squared or 5^2
5 to the first power is the same as 5^1
5 to the 0 power. The rule is any number raised to 0 equals 1
It could be 4987 to the 0 power and it equals 1.
On the last question, if it is exactly as you wrote it, first you would raise the 10 to the third power; then you would divide both sides by the solution to 10 to the third power. You will be left with 7 = n

5 to the 2nd = 25
5 to the first = 5
5 to the 0 = 0

to get the answers, u just multiply 5 by itself by how ever many times the power tells you to. if it says 5 to the 5th power you go 5 x 5 = 25 x 5 = 125 x 5 = 625 x 5 = 3125 x 5 = 15625
so 5 to the 5th power would be 15625

2006-08-17 16:40:26 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

5 to the 5th power is the same as 5x5x5x5x5.
5 to the 3rd power is the same as 5x5x5

basically, the big number is the number you multiply and the little number is the number of times you multiply it by.

So 5 to the 0 is 0 because it's saying 5 times nothing.
5 to the 1st is just 5.
for 7000=nx10to the 3rd, do 10 to the 3rd power(10x10x10)then divide (do the opposite as the sign says, instead of x you divide)that answer into 7000. That is the number that is equal to n.

Hope that helps!

5 to the third power is 5 times 5 which equals 25. Then you take the 25 and multiply it by 5 which gives you 125.

5 to the second power is 5 times 5 or 25

5 to the first power is 5

5 to the zero power is 1 (I think)

Reverse the formula for the last one. 7000 divided by 10 equals N
N equals 700
