I'm not sure if you want something family-friendly or not, but if it'll be a family road trip, I'd suggest the Gold Rush Days Festival in Sacramento. During Labor Day weekend, they're recreating Gold Rush Days with horse-drawn wagons, Pony Express reenactments, outdoor games, etc. with people in period costumes. It sounds like fun for the kids, and best of all, it's free.

If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, there's also the Millbrae Art and Wine Festival (9/2-9/3), which also has free admission. Adults can window shop fine arts and original crafts while the kids hang out at various rides and a Boomer's Magic Circus.

Lastly, there's the Sausalito Art Festival, which also features live musical entertainment and more than 20,000 original works of art. There are also activities for the kids. For the adults, there's gourmet foods and premium beer and wine.

Since these festivals are in Northern Cal, you can spend less time being frustrated with traffic on the busy weekend but can still have a good time near home. Have fun!

If you are going to California during Labor Day, you better decide where to go now as all the hotels will shortly be all booked up.

l. a. gets rather warm and dry in early fall, even though it rather is not any longer too undesirable while in comparison with summertime. it rather is often around 70 to eighty stages Fahrenheit, no longer too undesirable for an exterior social gathering, even though it easily relies upon on that day... there is extraordinary and as we communicate changing climate right here each and every so often.
