Lines of longitude:
Prime meridian - The meridian along which the longitude is 0 degrees
International Date Line - This is not a meridian, as it does not go directly north-south but instead takes a number of bends. However, it roughly follows the north-south path of the 180th meridian and divides the date. Areas immediately east of the International Date Line are one day behind areas immediately west of it.
Lines of latitude:
Arctic Circle - latitude 66° 33' 39" N. Regions north of this parallel do not experience sunrise or sunset during some days of the year.
Tropic of Cancer - latitude 23° 26' 22" N. Regions between this parallel and the Tropic of Capricorn pass through the Earth's plane of orbit. In other words, only in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn can the Sun ever appear directly overhead.
Equator - 0°. Diameter of the Earth that is perpendicular to its axis of rotation. Also the only diameter of the Earth that is a true circle, due to the Earth's rotation causing it to flatten out.
Tropic of Capricorn - latitude 23° 26' 22" S. See Tropic of Cancer.
Antarctic Circle - latitude 66° 33' 39" S. Regions south of this parallel do not experience sunrise or sunset during some days of the year.
