you might check the battery to starter cables and see if they got cooked from you starting it. Also, but not very likely, are the teeth on your flywheel okay, if you are hearing the starter engage, but the engine not turn over, it may have a dead spot on your flywheel. Have you checked fuses and fuseable links? That also might have some affect to your problem. Hope some of that helps. --

Nothing should have happened . Maybe you blew a fuse, in line fuse, or a relay. I guess the other engine starts fine ? Maybe solenoid. I thought you said the starter was fine, that includes ABendix?

you have either broke the flywheel on it,,or completely sheared off the nose of the starter,,i own a repair shop in Tennessee,,and work on a lot of boats from time to time,,i have seen this happen a lot,,especially with twin engines,,you need to pull the starter off from it,,and you will find your problem,,you know this may be expensive to repair,,i hope its just the starter,,maybe this will help.

1st ; question was it in the water when you had it running? 2nd question ; was it pumping water? if you started it without putting the outdrive in the water, you more then likely locked up the engine, the outdrive provides the water to cool the engine, need more info.
