Probably not, unless everyone skips it/comes down with weak injuries. I live in Houston and watch the games. Yes, he gets little time and has few good players to throw to(just Andre Johnson), but he still doesn't make the pass when he has time. He can throw a good deep ball, but he has poor judgement/accuracy on shorter routes. Hopefully this can change with a new coaching staff, but he has NOT showed me any reason to be overly opptimistic.

I think his First Pro Bowl is just around the corner. Maybe not this year, maybe not next, but with his new head coach, Gary Kubiak, I see David Carr showing what a player can do when properly coached at this level. Kubiak is slowly setting up all the needed tools for a serious playoff run in the AFC South, evidence of this is seen in his first round draft pick... A Defensive End. Already setting up his team to stop Payton Manning. He didn't ignore the offense though. Kubiak is a great Offensive mind, and I think Carr will definitely benefit from it in the years to come.

G'day ImaGman,

Thanks for the question.

David Carr is the quarterback for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). After his standout career at Fresno State, Carr was the first overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft.

However, he has struggled to date as the Texans have struggled in the past few years.2004 is without a doubt Carr's best season as a pro player to date. Despite being sacked 49 times, Carr began to play at the level a 1st overall pick is generally expected to. His best game of all came against the Minnesota Vikings on October 10. Carr exploded for 3 touchdowns and 374 yards passing, but the defense simply could not stop opposing quarterback Daunte Culpepper, as he threw for five touchdowns and put together the drive of his life in overtime to beat the Texans 34-28. Carr would put up solid numbers throughout the season, but three atrocious outings against the New York Jets and division rivals Indianapolis and Jacksonville would put the Texans out of playoff contention.

Despite high hopes from media prognosticators, the 2005 was another repeat of the 2002 inaugural season but worse. The Texans went 2-14, with that being the worst record in the NFL. Carr would be sacked 68 more times, and would only put up eight average or better outings in a season in which everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Houston.

In February 2006, Carr's contract with the Houston Texans was extended for three more years, a move that caused some controversy among the fan base. The Texans, by virtue of their league-worst 2005 record, held the first pick of the 2006 NFL draft (ultimately used to select Mario Williams of NC State). There was substantial support among Houston fans for the Texans to instead select Houston native and former University of Texas Longhorn quarterback Vince Young, given Carr's struggles and Young's performance in leading the Longhorns to the 2006 national championship, and allow Carr to become a free agent. However, new coach Gary Kubiak backed Carr, and was instrumental in convincing the organization to extend Carr's contract and pass on Young.

The Texans will need to improve the offensive line so that he isn't sacked so often. Given his record to date, Carr and the Texans lineup will need to make a giant leap forward if he is to make the Pro Bowl.

I have attached some sources for your reference.

With Kubiak as their head coach now, I think you'll see huge jumps in Carr in the next couple of years. Kubiak is putting in a very QB friendly system. The Texans do need some help on that OL and that will take a little time. Do I think you'll see improvements in Carr performance? YES. Pro Bowl caliber? Remains to be seen.

Possibly, but he has progressed slowly as a Texan. He needs to rack up much better stats to make it, and I would say it is unlikely we will see Carr on the Pro Bowl Team with such a poor team around him. He hasn't been a star on a bad team, but rather just another struggling QB who may find himself on the bench if his performance doesn't improve. Last years QB rating of 77.2 vs someone like Big Ben of the Steelers 98.6 tells a lot about where Carr is right now.

That question should be answered this year. He finally has a 1-2 punch in receivers. The best o-line he has had to date. Also, he has an offensive minded coach. With those three things he should be in line for his best year yet. If he doesn't produce look for Houston to get another qb in here next year. I am a Texans fan so I hope he does well. The bad thing about the pro bowl is that he is going up against Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, and Tom Brady so the pro bowl may be tough to get unless someone gets hurt. Remember "the NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams" so to sway them he will have to have a great year!! Go Texans!!!

Sure, David Carr will be at the Pro-Bowl, if he buys his own ticket he will be there in a wheel chair with his neck in a brace.

Poor dude, he hasn't played 1 regular season game this year and he is already on pace for 55 sacks!

Whenever he doesn't have to run for his dear life. The Texans boosted their OL this year in the draft, but I wouldn't expect them to do well until next year. Hopefully at this point Carr will be able to actually stay in the pocket and make a pass. If he's able to do that, he will make it to the Pro Bowl.

if d davis comes back from his knee injury and eric moulds delivers as promised carr will have his best year yet. it may still not be good enough for the pro bowl as their are many great afc qbs.

It might be a while. His o-line sucks and he has decent Wr's and a RB. So once they can protect him and have a good runnnig game he'll be good. Maybe not a probowler though.
