The absolute truth-no. Nothing will 100% guarantee a job or job security after college-ask the college where you are going if they can guarantee a job for you or that you'll always have a job and I think they'll tell you the same. It is all up to you. If you look into career web pages, like jobhuntersbible.com, you'll see that most people change thier careers a number of times in thier life and they don't necesarily work in what they studied at college. I went to college and got my degree because I thought that was what I had to do. However, now I realize that WORKING first would have been a wonderful way to learn about what I wanted to study at college. And by working I mean something where I would have enjoyed the work and gotten insight into how the job search and professional world works. If you are sure about studying business management, go make the most of that oportunity and jump at EVERY internship you can get from the first semester. Don't wait! No matter what anyone at school may tell you, the sooner the better. You'll never be worse off by having more work experience. The best advice I 've had that I could apply to my educational and profesional experience was "find the people who think you are a bag of chips and change"- in other words, find those people, professores, counselors, classmates, who are positive and encouraging and when it comes time to critque you, they do so in a positive way. Good luck and when you are looking for a job, Y! hotjobs has a lot of useful tools.

No, it will not secure a job for you. However, your chances of getting a job are higher than that of people who do not have a degree. Most places require a degree for even the most basic of jobs. It's a very harsh time for job security in general right now.

No. Some companies are ignoring college grads altogether because a lot of the new grads think they are entitled to something. Graduating from college shows you are capable of passing a test. Doesnt mean you can do the job. Real world experience is where its at then the degree. Preferably a degree in a specialized field.

While they do have a point about it being there that noone can take and all that....yea ok BUT a degree even a PHD in a subject like art history or whatever that really nobody wants isn't going to get as far as you'd think. It should be something in demand as well if you are focused on security. The dream is something in demand that you love to do.

Any form of college degree in this day and age will help! It gives you a better chance of landing a job than a person with just a high school diploma or GED! It isn't a promise of a job, but it definitely raises your chances of getting one.
VERY Best of Luck!

Not necessarily learn a second language and watch out for those military folks cuz not only have they had training to do the job but have atleast been doing the job for 4 years. So that's work experience they have over you.

yes! with a degree in business, you can get a job as some kind of manager. take wal-mart for example, they're always expanding and you could get a job from them as a manager in training, after your training, you get to open your own wal-mart store or work as manager in another store or the store you trained in. alot of other companies does that, not just wal-mart by the way.
