I write and edit a local newspaper. I print approximately 4,000 pages on my better months. This is a non profit group and we are in need of a new copier/printer. I have been told that our daily cost would be less if we used a machine that uses toner instead of ink. The machine we were printing on was costing us appx. 45 cents per paper. Any suggestions?

If you are printing a relatively large quantity of a relatively small number of pages, you might want to take a look at the RISO Printer-Duplicator. It can be networked, automatically cuts an internal "master," and prints at a high speed (150/min). It uses liquid ink cartridges. The cost per page, assuming you make a few hundred or more copies of each master, is much lower than any toner-based printer.

You will want to consider print quality and resolution (for any system). Best to see a variety of samples, and even get your rep to make prints of YOUR files for comparison.

Yes consider looking into a Canon copier or even a Xerox all in one. With the service agreements generally they will supply you with everything you need at a resonable rate
