Talk to a lawyer. And if you want him to lose custody because you are bitter get over it. If you want him to lose custody because he is an abusive bastard, good luck.

First, I would tell you to get a lawyer so that you do this right because this may very in different states. You can petition the court for full custody of your child(ren) and if he does not show up for the court date then the judge might give you full custody. You must make every effort though to notify the other parent which includes putting it in the paper. Again, I would caution you to at least seek the advice of an attorney and if money is an issue they almost all give 30 minute consultations for free.

if he has had no contact for a certain period of time (you ll have to check the laws in your area) yes you can post an add in the paper in his area and if he does not respond usually within 30 days yes you can get full custody as far as dropping his rights i think the only way that can be done is if you have somebody in your life willing to adopt (but i could be wrong)
hope it helps

I have heard of that way as well, but the best way is to just take it to the courts. Have them send a certified letter to the father stating when the custody hearing is and when he doesn't show he loses his rights

Contact an attorney, you have to prove he is an unfit father for you to receive sole legal physical custody and for him to waive his rights. If you want him to waive his rights and the court sees fit you will not receive any form of child support. Like someone mentioned above do not do this if you have a sour taste in your mouth about the father, if he is a good man/father don't do this to your child b/c it will be him/her it affects in the long run, if he is a deadbeat father then you clean up the court room and win. Good Luck and remember to do what is in the best interest of your child.

No. A judge has to order his rights to be severed, but if he does not respond to the add that you are suing for full custody within the alloted time, you will gain full custody.
