If Barbie is so popular, then why do you have to buy her friends?

I'm going to assume this question is serious.
Barbie is a popular TOY. This means lots and lots of people have bought it. They make friends so you buy MORE from them (and so they make more money).
Oh, just for your information... you don't HAVE to buy her friends. You could just buy Barbie and that's all.
A question for you- why is this question in the "Family and Relationships" category?

Actually Barbie is not popular anymore.. the Bratz dolls are. Overly made-up faces with big ugly eyes and short short skirts are what parents want to buy their little darlings.
