Why do u guys think that hollywood movies picture Italians (gangsters?), Women (sex symbols?), Muslims (terrorists?), Black people (criminals?)

Hollywood is like a restaurant. They serve what customers want. Some people wonder if Hollywood's generalizations affect the group mind by making people more prone themselves to generalize. But, some people wonder if Hollywood films, as an art form, allow such generalizations to be examined and "worked out", that film is like literature and theater in which we examine ourselves as a culture in a group way.

You are referring to stereotyping, and that is unfortunate because people begin to generalize and therefore, ALL Italians are gangsters and ALL women are sex symbols, etc. And it is even worse when Hollywood does it because their movies are seen by millions of people.

Not all guys think that way. Sounds stereotypical. An actor once said, "I don't play a black guy, I don't play a white guy. I play the character that is written."

ill go with the women as sex symbols... but i wont complain, but the black people as criminals isnt true because there are many great famous black actors that play lead non-criminal roles today

Because they know they'll make money if they have a buch of ganstas oogling half naked women while they fight terrorism and then the black dudes come in and steal their bitches. hahahahah seriously stereotypes are not funny

because that's how people picture them. as much as we don't want to admit it, those are the stereotypes that virtually all of us have in our minds, and hollywood producers are human too.
