Good in some senses, bad in others. And even horrible at times, but very good at other times. Ha!

Like any other institution, it has its good points and its bad points. Of course, without government, things would be very bad (anarchy). And with too much government, you get either Communism or fascism, depending on the bent of the particular leader.

The answer to this question stems from the ideology of the individual; some people will say they want the government to perform this, this and that service but don't get involved in this, this and that. Others may say the complete opposite. I guess it's what the majority wants, as long as there is protection for the minority. (Tyranny of the majority can be an awful thing to witness.)

I don't think a government can be considered is such black and white terms. A governments responsibility is to its people, so what's good for its people might be bad for others. That being said, I think the US government represents the interests of the richest 1% in this country. SO it's definitely good if you're rich and white. As far as everyone else, well, they're expendable in the eyes of the rich and powerful.

Our government is composed of both good and bad.

What would you do without any government? Or would you rather have one like the Chinese Communists, Russians, or one of any of the African or South American despotic or corrupt governments?

Have you ever been overseas? I have, both as a civilian and as a government worker. I've seen how other governments oppress or extort their citizens. I've also seen the result of the chaos from bad government.

Go overseas and see for yourself. And come to the halls of government. There are many ways you can intern and learn for yourself how it is.

the government is a reflection of the people. If the people are passive and lazy, the government will be bloated and unaccountable. If we work for the welfare of others, and act responsibly, the government will be beneficial and responsible. we get the government we deserve - it is a reflection of the nation. Winston Churchill said it best. To paraphrase: Democracy is the worst form of government we could ever have, but it sure beats the alternative.

Why don't you do a search on the old gentleman and read what he actually said?

Comparatively good. The system is based in the rights of man .
I believe, however, that all government attracts people who only have their own best interest at heart. "The pure are not drawn to power."

The government is amoral. They do what is in the best interest of people with influence. Most of the time it isnt in the best interest of the common people.

A few words of wisdom, my friend. Government is a necessary evil. It's the law. No one WANTS law.

Which government are you asking about?

Most governments have a mixture of good and bad, since society is very diverse I would think it impossible to please all of the people all of the time.
